Legends - Periyar

1. Wife being threatened by strangers in temple and Periyar outside the temple comments” Even inside the temple where god and goddess are with weapons do not protect a lady but men have to do it”.




2. As a member of temple committee he inspects the jewels and inquires if all poojas are performed properly. He asserts that his faith is different and his duty is different.



3. He inquires a kid in the street if “caste” is abolished from his life and equality prevails.



4. He asserts that everyone should be given rights to enter temple even if he does not pray or not.



5. His talk with Gandhi saying that he is not able to find equality practiced in the country.



6. His friendship with Rajaji and direct questions on quota and reservation.



7. His advise to Kamaraj to take up Chief Minister post.


8. His blunt opinion that he cannot form any alliance with politicians who he are finding any solutions for the problems and root cause of social menace.



9. Humor with parents on religious practice and independent thoughts towards human welfare, child marriage, remarriage etc.


10. His unwavering respect for human beings inspite of their living condition depicted in the scene where he slaps his wife.
Finally, the man’s love for chicken biriyani and inability to control his taste buds.
