Small Act of Kindness inspires to be like them.
On the last month of the year, On a day where i was going to office (little late than usual time) I saw two things which inspired.
One a person (Bus conductor by profession) in the Majestic bus stand in bangalore who showed way for the four blind people to take their buses.
I was travelling to my office near to Domlur ,There i met the other person (Bus driver by profession) who was kind to stop the bus near to Domlur to allow a family i.e. Husband carrying a 5 -6 years old kid along with his Wife with their baggages were in the middle of the bus stop showing the hand to the bus. He stopped the bus and allowed them to get inside. The persons inside were kind to give the traveller and his kid a Seat.
Kudos to these guys. They inspired the day.

Dear Rahmaniacs, ( ALL WOULD DERIVE MORE JOY, WHEN LISTENING TO MP3s, which
will be circulated soon )Advertising
Today was a wonderful interview of Dr. Narayan with Raihana in Rahmania show
( AahaFM 91.9 ) .
*Brief Introduction :-* Dr. Narayan is an upcoming singer , who has been
singing hummings for ARR, and a practising Homeopathy Doctor. he is a BHMS;
Bachelor of Homepathy & Surgery, just like allopathy medicine . Proper
College for 5 1/2 yrs. Practising along with his wife. She also sings, but
more a critic. Learnt Carnatic Music from his mother right from the age of 5
. At a point he got Central Govt Scholarship in Vocal . he started learning
for 14 or 15 yrs under the tutelage of Prof. S. Rajam , a close associate of
Veena Balachander. He is an expert member in Music Commitee. It was he who
made my voice suitable for Carnatic as well as Film Songs. He made me have a
thorough practice in all raagas, which enabled me to acquire Swara knowledge
. My first Arangetram was in front of Dr. Balamuralikrishna in 1997 , in
Narada Gana Sabha .
*ARR "s Meeting :-* My first meeting was for the film Kandukonden
Kandukonden. 1999. he went and gave devotional cassettes that he had
recorded to ARR. Immediately, he got a call from ARR 's studio. He went and
listened to the flute piece of the song Kandukondein Kandukondein. I started
practising the swaras,a nd next day, mr. Rajeev Menon took him to ARR
studios . The cassette was first given to ARR. That was given at a common
place, where he gave it to ARR. when he got the call from ARR studio, he was
having butterflies in his stomach, and was with so much of anxiety, because
it was the first time he was entering ARR Studio.
ARR was present and he was smiling. He summoned Dr. to sing . ARR gave many
improvisations.Dr.'s piece was considered to be a track. . ARR spontaneously
gave note phrases. Before the song , ARR asked him "What is the Alapana for
Raaga Nalinaganti?" ( unexpectadly ) . he gave the answer. Then ARR was
asking his name, for which he replied " I am Sriram Narayanan". But ARR
always used to call him as Doctor. ARR always used to sing the song " hello
Doctor; Heart Touch aache" ( Kadhal Desam song with wordings changed
specially for Dr. Narayan )
Now also, recently, during their trip to San Francisco, both stayed in the
same hotel. whenever ARR meets Dr., he used to sing " Hello Doctor.. How do
you do Doctor". Raihana says that ARR used to love Dr. so much, that he has
never cut jokes with anybody else other than Dr. Its because of Dr. 's
innocence. At times of chorus also, ARR used to talk so much about Dr.
Suddenly, between recordings, ARR used to ask " Where is Dr ?. where is Dr
?. Dr. needs to ake homeopathy pills". When anybody used to feel sick, ARR
used to ask " Where is our fake Doctor ????".
*SINGAPORE TRIP :-*
while in the flight, Air Hostess was calling for any doctors, and for the
first time, in the presence of ARR, Dr. went and attended the patient. The
patient had some mild indigestion problem. So he advised some first aid.
Medicines for maintaining Voice :- No medicines. There are very good
medicines for maintaining voice in Homeopathy. Many singers used to take
medicines from him.
*FIRST SONG WITH ARR :-* Suthi Suthi Vandeega ( Humming Version in Re-
recording ) .
In Pukar, Solo bit - Kismat Se Tum . dr. did it in Humming version.
Raihana says Dr. is very helpful, down to earth, and he tells the swaras for
Mustafa song ( then and there ) .
BOYS re- recording :- Manam Virubuthe bit ( when hero & heroine go to a
resort, and its like their mind sings )
on the spot, ARR composed the song while doing re- recording. After some
takes, immediate voice mixing was done by ARR. The end result was very
husky, excellent. ( he sings the same song as Madurai Somu , some imitations
etc )
K. Balachander introduced Dr. in the Tv serial " Sahana", which was a great
hit, and also a film " Poi". Also in ennavale, Palli koodam etc . In telugu,
Dasari Narayan Rao introduced him. Also some albums , which are yet to be
released.
*Most Favoutite Song of Dr. :-* Kadhal Ennum Thervezhii - KADHALAR DHINAM ,
Ennavalle ( Kadhalan )
*During Concerts :-* TAAL Song . There is a Jadi originally sung by
Sukhwinder Singh. ARR used to ask Dr. to sing that jadi. ( it comes in
between in Taal se Taal mila song )
Listened to a lot of Hindustani songs etc . Dr. can improvise on any song.
Dr. can finish a song within 40 minutes. Dr. immediately, writes notes for
his songs. and then he starts singing .
*FAVOURITE RAAGA :-* When they went to Australia, the song ' Sandhana
Thendralai ( KK ) . He noticed a spark, a magic. There is a flute bit in
between after the first stanza. That is in keeravani raaga . A beautiful mix
. Real music. So much of soul and energy in this music. Even Incurable
diseases can be cured listening to this . This flute bit has thearauptc use.
Any tune that is melodiuous has the ability to cure . Raihana 's depression
was elevated by Chinna Chinna Aasai ( Roja ) . All ARR songs give
inspiration, motivation, joy.
ARR songs all hit.. Some songs which many have not heard much, are liked by
Dr. He bought Pukar Cassette on the day of release, and he kept listening
that bits in the song " Kismat se ". Rasiga priya - last raaga . ARR asked
once " What is the alapana for Rasiga Priya Raaga ". Then Dr. referred and
told him the answer.
*MOST FAVOURITE SINGER :- UDIT NARAYAN -* because chariming, he carries his
songs on his shoulders. Straight. Innocence, Appealing voice, he beautifies
the lyrics. Dr. always admires his songs . Bold clear voice. Authoritative
. Dr. gathers a Plus point in many singers. for eg. Sonu Nigam - Graceful

Nice quote
It reminds me of a great quote, “You either succeed…or you learn.”
Whatever we’re doing, we’re either succeeding or we’re learning, and either option is pretty great.

Composers to Admire
Ilaiyaraaja's compositions appeal to the
"Ilayaraja would look at the scene once, and immediately start giving notes to his assistants, as a bunch of musicians, hovering around him, would collect the notes for their instrument and go to their places. When the orchestra played out the notes, they would be perfect, not just in harmony but also in timing — the background score would commence exactly where it should and end at the exact place required. Ilayaraja is a genius, who could compose music with just one look at the scene."
- Mani Ratnam (The Indian filmmaker illustrates).
“ I had come to the music of A. R. Rahman through the emotional and haunting score of Bombay
and the wit and celebration of Lagaan. But the more of AR's music I encountered the more I was to be amazed at the sheer diversity of styles: from swinging brass bands to triumphant anthems; from joyous pop to West-End musicals. Whatever the style, A. R. Rahman's music always possesses a profound sense of humanity and spirit, qualities that inspire me the most.[88] ” - Baz Luhrmann(Australian film director)

Legends - Kamaraj and Gandhi
Thanks kandha for the writeup.
Kamaraj
1. A man so much into public service that he reiterates it in every second of his life. He proves it…just not for the sake of proving……but really mean it when,
a. He scolds his mother for getting a water tap inside the house
b. He asks his family not to look for a girl for him
c. He turns down CM post
2. Absolutely practical and task oriented,
a. Scolds a officer for holding approval to send a child abroad for an eye surgery. He says “Indhamaadhiri kariyam pakka thaan neenga ellam. Oru kariyatha panna mudiyalai nu sollaradhu ku neenga ellam officer nu edhukku…………neenga sollara rules u procedure u ellame kaariyam panna thaan...”
b. Meets public in his home for grievance redressal.
c. Asks a police man to leave because a child is stopped from meeting him.
3. Never favors anyone based on money or political party or education,
a. Discuss issues with peasants first so that they can catch their bus on return journey and informs IAS officers who has vehicles to wait.
b. Appreciates a Collector for taking strict actions against the rich man for his faults.
c. Supports Indira Gandhi for PM and then later regrets when she takes up EMERGENCY.
4. Totally opposes Illicit Liquor and feels that all his life’s efforts including Freedom fight against British Raj have been wasted when they are brought back into the state.
5. Never an economist, never a political lobbyist, never an industrialist, never delivered inspiring speeches, never wrote a poem in his life, never loved a girl or had any illicit relationship, never a project manager, never scholar, never a sports man, never created anything artistic or beautiful…………..pure passion…..pure passion to server India………….thoughts, actions, desire, motive, courage, soul, spirit and dedication only to server INDIA and TAMILNADU benefitted because of him. People call it the “Golden era” for Tamil Nadu and I am sure people felt it and lived it that way.
Gandhi Ji
1. I like it when everyone thinks the people in power controls the country and HE alone thinks that HE is actually in control of the country. He makes rules understand whom they rule determine weather they should be ruled or not and it is not the other way around.
2. He starts the Independence movement. After first few days riots broke out and few police men are killed. He immediately calls of the protest. All the important leaders try to convince him not to stop because of few deaths, he responds “Try telling that to the family who have lost their relatives………If I want to have a protest then it should be a protest without death”
3. I cannot belive someone can tell you to go and suffer………and you will thank him or appreciate him for that. Gandhi told the country to go and get beatings from British Raj and not to retaliate…..People did that………I am sure this is a different HISTORY.
4. His passion to follow whatever he says. Even if people do not follow what he says or practices he would continue to do it. It is kind of making you GUILTY for not doing it and then making people feel good when they do it.
5. I don’t know if anyone could write in their autobiography that they were loitering the streets in their teenage to visit brothels.
6. He was sensitive to criticizms and had great friends to make him see them in the right spirit.
7. Water can rust iron. Water cannot break steel, but when water turns into ice we saw it cutting steel in TITANIC. Similarly…………..Truth, Love, selflessness and Non-violance at its purest form overcame anarchy and opression through mass movement.
8. When people criticizes Gandhi’s son for his behaviour he attributed that to himself. He says that he did not take care of his sick father and was in the private rooms with his wife. The son who was born through his vice and his inability to serve his father in the hour of sickness would have such characters is not surprising.
9. I am sometimes confused if he really understood people or he does not understand people at all. His ability in preaching Ahimsa and ability to oppose British Raj with ease proves that he understand mass psychology. His inability not to understand that Hindus and Muslim differences cannot be resolved easily and the casteism that is wide spread in his followers. Most of his followers were not just statesmen but have an acumen of jacals and do not serve selfelssly beats me.
10. His expectations that Inida should have politician like “Kalifas” was just day dreaming.
11. I feel it was not for the personality called “Gandhiji” that India got unified……it was for the common GOAL against British Raj that people got united.
12. What amazes me is that his passion for Independence made him ask “MONEY” from any person he meets. He collected money like anything and made sure the independence movement did not slow down. Financing the movements were well done.
13. Walking, white clothes, bald head, hand watch, round glasses, smile……everything adds to the uniquness of his personality and charisma. In the current scenario I could use the word “Brand Value” for Gandhism.
14. At least in India, I feel “Gandhi and Non-violance” should be a subject in schools like English or Tamil.
Thanks and Regards,
Kandha Kumar
Legends - Periyar
Thanks Kandha for writing this one.
1. Wife being threatened by strangers in temple and Periyar outside the temple comments” Even inside the temple where god and goddess are with weapons do not protect a lady but men have to do it”.
2. As a member of temple committee he inspects the jewels and inquires if all poojas are performed properly. He asserts that his faith is different and his duty is different.
3. He inquires a kid in the street if “caste” is abolished from his life and equality prevails.
4. He asserts that everyone should be given rights to enter temple even if he does not pray or not.
5. His talk with Gandhi saying that he is not able to find equality practiced in the country.
6. His friendship with Rajaji and direct questions on quota and reservation.
7. His advise to Kamaraj to take up Chief Minister post.
8. His blunt opinion that he cannot form any alliance with politicians who he are finding any solutions for the problems and root cause of social menace.
9. Humor with parents on religious practice and independent thoughts towards human welfare, child marriage, remarriage etc.
10. His unwavering respect for human beings inspite of their living condition depicted in the scene where he slaps his wife.
Finally, the man’s love for chicken biriyani and inability to control his taste buds.
